Background

The finance team at Adyen had recently welcomed a new manager and recognised the importance of creating a strong team bonding. They sought a team-building experience that went beyond the usual icebreakers or strategy sessions.Their main objective was to deepen interpersonal connections, enhance communication, and encourage genuine support among colleagueslaying a solid foundation for collaboration under new leadership.

Objectivesadyen

The session was designed to help team members:

  • Cultivate a deeper connection with themselves and others.

  • Build meaningful relationships that support open, trusting communication.

  • Feel heard, understood, and valued within the team.

  • Support the integration of their new manager into the team.

Program: Positive Intelligence & personal beliefs

To meet these goals, I introduced the Positive Intelligence framework. This method helps individuals uncover the subconscious beliefs and internal “saboteurs” that influence their reactions, communication styles, and working relationships.

Using this approach, the team explored:adyen

  • The types of beliefs that may be shaping their behaviors, often unconsciously.

  • How these mental patterns affect collaboration, conflict, and team morale.

  • Communication tendencies—both strengths and blind spots—and how to better align them for effective teamwork.

Outcomes

During the session, team members:

  • Identified their individual strengths and how to channel them more effectively in the workplace.

  • Gained awareness of what might be holding back their communication or causing misunderstandings.

  • Found new approaches to resolving current interpersonal challenges.

  • Built a sense of unity and trust that supported the smooth integration of the new manager.

The session created a safe and open space for vulnerability, insight, and laughter—allowing the team to bond on a deeper human level.
