Happiness Secret #3: Clarity
Clarity means to get you focused on the direction you want to point your life.
In this crazy busy world where you have too much, you have opportunity overload. You can go down so many different paths, but really there’s only a few things in your life that really move the needle towards where you really want to go, not when you’re being guided by so many outside forces.
You should really set the intention and get laser focused where you want to go, especially in a world where you’re always looking where you don’t want to go.
The first step is: your current status. That’s really where you are.
You see, if you have a desire to go someplace, even if you’re in your car and you have a GPS, you need a starting point.
Maybe you don’t know what you are good at and what makes you happy. Maybe you hate the job you’re in. Maybe you want to make an impact on the world.
All change starts with honesty. What are the pain points? Why are you here? Your current status may be: You don’t know what your next step in life should be; you feel alone and you want to find a partner; you want more time for you; you want to get in better shape; you want to fix your relationship; you are seeking a career change and you need some guidance.
The next step is: where do you want to go?
Imagine: It’s one year from today and it was the best year of your life. What does that look like? Where do you want to point your life? We are spinning so fast, we have a dust cloud around us. It’s hard to set goals, really hard to set goals, but if we can extract ourselves from the dust, and move forward one year and look backwards and say: it’s the best year of my life. I lost the weight. I have got the partner of my life, I started my new business. Whatever it is you’re doing, it’s the best year of your life. This is where I encourage people to look back and start writing down what the best year of your life looks like. Here’s what most people don’t realise, So many of us get sucked into what we don’t want out of life. You know all the things you don’t want. What aren’t your goals? The opposite of your goals? They say: “Oh, I don’t want the stress. I don’t want my boyfriend not to listen to me. I don’t want to work for this boss”.
Everybody knows what they don’t want, but if I ask: “Where do you want to go?”
Most people would answer: “Oh, really good question” or “I’m not sure” or “Let me think”.
We are running so fast, we are all in Lamborghinis without our GPS on. We’re just driving fast. We are running on a treadmill expecting to get somewhere. Clarity makes you point your life in the right direction. So all your energy can go towards your bigger future. We only have a certain amount of energy to give. It needs to be pointed in the right direction: where do you want to be?
Clarity = Bigger Future
Watch video #3.
Assignment:
It’s one year from today and it was the best year of your life. What does that look like? Write it down. You have to formulate the sentences in past tense as it has already happened (eg. I lost the weight, I started my new business, etc.). Thinking in the past helps you to be more precise about what you want.
Homework inquiries:
1.What do I want?
Take some time in your bed before going to sleep or immediately when you wake up and think about how you would like to feel in your life. Not what you don’ t want, but what you want.
2.What is it to have a full, rich life?
Try to visualise your idea of a full, rich life. How does it look like?
Love,
Daniela
