We work online from home, shop online, learn online, keep in contact with our friends through social media and chat apps. Even activities that traditionally happened live, such as music lessons and yoga are being offered online.

Virtual services are becoming more common every day. This applies to the coaching as well. Coaches are increasingly offering their services online.

  • Online coaching can be done from anywhere you wish. All you need is a quiet place, a smartphone or laptop and internet access. 

  • It is easier to schedule sessions, there is no travelling needed, time is being saved and you don’t have to take extra time off from work.

  • You can choose a coach who lives on the other side of the country, or even in another country.

  • For some of you, you may feel a certain safety and ‘anonymity’ behind the screen and you can feel more comfortable to be open and honest when being coached online.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REGULAR COACHING & ONLINE COACHING 

In terms of effectiveness, there is no difference between regular coaching and online coaching. The sessions follow the same structure and have the same duration. Online coaching is done mainly through video calls to ensure better communication between the coach and the coachee. 

With online coaching, people might feel more comfortable in their private habitat. In terms of “human” contact, in-person interactions are generally more rewarding than online interactions. The choice is up to you!

TIPS BEFORE A COACHING SESSION

Here are some tips to prepare yourself for a coaching session:

  • Choose a good location for the virtual coaching session. Ensure you can be relaxed and free from distractions.
  • Make sure you have some space between the coaching session and your next virtual meeting to replenish your energy.
  • Test the platform that we will be using. I use Zoom but if you have other preferences we can discuss it. 
  • Ensure you have access to the internet.
